The Fourth Great Ninja War, from the Naruto Shippuden anime-series has finally begun. In this article we will look at the previous Great Ninja Wars that have all contributed to the fourth Great Ninja War.

The First Great Ninja War

Not much is known about the First Great Ninja war, since there are few surviving records from this war. This war began a short while after, the one ninja village per one country rule got established. The First Hokage, Hashirama Senju who was the head of the newly founded Hidden Village of the Leaf, decided to give each Hidden Village a tailed beast as a sign of his intentions for peace.

However the Hokage's intentions were mis-understood and as a result the hidden villages went to war. During this battle, the second Hokage Tobirama Senju, sacrificed himself to protect his sub-ordinates and choose Hiruzen Sarutobi as the Third Hokage. The war would end with an armistice treaty, however distrust had now been seeded between the Five Great Nations.

The Second Great Ninja War

For about 20 years after the First Great War, there was peace between the Great Nations, however due to the lack of trust and economic disagreements, the Nations started to form groups claiming fair rights as an excuse. Soon the nations started expanding their areas using military force, as a result the Second Great Ninja War began.

Many lives were lost during this war, but at the same time many heroes were also created. During this war, the current Hokage, Tsunade Senju lost her brother, Nawaki as well as her lover Dan Kato. However Tsunade would also become one of the three Legendary Ninja's during this war, after herself and Orichimaru and Jiraiya defeated Hanso during the battle of Amegakure.

Tsunade will also prove to be the best medical ninja during this war, because he can find an antidote for any poison that can be made by Lady Chiyo, from the Hidden Sand.

This war was influenced by other characters, is Sasori, granddaughter of Lady Chiyo, who lost her parents and as a result decided to leave Hidden Sand, joining Akatsuki. The one who became the White Fang of the Leaf was Sakumo Hatake and was responsible for their deaths.

Furthermore the Ame children would lose their parents during this war. As a result the Rinnegan powered boy, Naguto would become obsessed with ending all forms of war, an obsession that the Akatsuki took advantage of.

The Third Great Ninja War

Not much is known about this war apart from the fact, the Five Great Nations were busy losing their power. ,

Minor battles continued on the borders of the Five Great Nations and consequently this battle was added to the Third Great Ninja War. It is not fully known how the war ended.

Conclusion

Many of these wars were fought because of the power struggles between the Five Great Nations, however the fourth Great Ninja war is not a war between the Nations. Instead the Ninja villages have put aside their differences to protect the last two tailed beasts from the Akatsuki.
